Our Parsha ends the story of the birth of a family and begins the story of the birth of a nation. The Torah starts by giving us context to the Jewish people’s situation at that time. Yosef and all his brothers had passed on, and the new king ignored Yosef and his accomplishments.

Moshe was born and put in the Nile river and was saved by Pharaoh’s daughter, Batya. She took him in and raised him as her own son and as a prince in Pharaoh's palace.

We find out why the Torah seemingly repeats itself?

We learn about Moshe's crisis of identity.
