So many close races in this one, & do send us your medalists on Twitter. But we do our best to parse through all these tight categories, 19 in all once again. Gravity takes on Mad Max: Fury Road in the undercard, Adele vs Adele Kazeem, Ang Lee vs 2 of the 3 Amigos. It’s tough.

Our first Oscar Olympics was a hit. So we happily did another Olympiad with 2012/13 through 2015/16. As we did with the last 4 years, we took the four years previous and stuck to a simple power ranking format for 19 categories, minus the shorts & sound categories. Then we handed out gold, silver, and bronze medals to our top 3’s with one in the DNM (did not medal) distinction. You can certainly play along at home, like you did with 2016-2019, and we do wanna hear your rankings.
Spotlight, Birdman, 12 Years A Slave, & Argo go head to head in the headliner Best Picture category to close our program. But we also get a ton of close run races throughout this Oscar Olympics. Gravity & Mad Max: Fury Road face off in several of the undercard categories, we get some all time favorites of ours in the Documentary & Animated Features, and there are some vastly different picks from Mike & I throughout the full card. So this episode is chuck full of some fun debate & Academy Award analysis.
It’s another tournament of champions kind of episode, and we’re invigorated as awards pundits through this new format. Of course, you get our biases, grudges, and strange rationale on full display. But that also makes it so much more fun.
Stay tuned for more Oscar Olympics in the future. Until then, we have some great guests booked for later this month, and with some news looking up(?) for the movie world (maybe?), we’re gonna start to get back to some news programming and break down the big stories for you soon. Otherwise, The James Bond Character Study will return, and we’ll keep having more fun with our quarantine Top 5 shows.
As always, we want to know your picks for this Oscar Olympics. Feel free to send us all or some of them, & we’ll shout some out on the next show. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. You can subscribe / rate / review / like / share / & listen to us on Apple Podcasts, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Spotify, and just about wherever you might listen. We’re Mike, Mike, & Oscar, and we’re making awards season year round, without the stuffiness. Thanks for listening.
