Since George Floyd was murdered by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin one year ago, police have killed hundreds of people of color in the United States.

George Floyd’s family and the families of every other person killed by police are still mourning their deaths. Protesters are still demanding more accountability and justice from police departments across the country following Derek Chauvin being found guilty of murder and manslaugter in the case of George Floyd.

To commemorate one year since Floyd’s death, we’re bringing you the perspective of activists from Minnesota’s Twin Cities. They tell us how the Bryant neighborhood, where Floyd was killed, is historically over-criminalized and how cops have gotten away with killing hundreds of civilians in Minnesota in the past 21 years.

Note: the audio in this podcast comes from a larger USA TODAY video project, Boots on the Ground, a documentary film by Jarrad Henderson.
