The Guys are back after a week off to recharge a bit before the long haul of the season gets going and they touch on the little bit of hockey news that’s out there. Hockey season is upon us as the Blackhawks social media was in full swing posting photos of the ice being painted ahead of the start of the 2021-2022 season. Speaking of getting ready for the season, Malcom Subban drops an absolutely amazing tribute to Tony Esposito on his mask for the season. Although the guys hope we don’t see it in action this year. (2:25-5:02) The Chicago Blackhawks announce key dates for next years schedule that include celebrating Patrick Kanes 1k achievement, honoring former Hawks Andrew Shaw, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson, and Pat Foley. The guys also discuss one very noticeable name not on the list in Corey Crawford and they ask if that’s weird or not? (5:03-14:53) With Training Camp and preseason right around the corner the guys take a look at what some potential storylines the Hawks might have going into this upcoming season. The talk Jonathan Toews and if he’s going to be good to go, What veterans might find themselves on the outside looking on and which younger players might be taking their place. A topic that has been huge on this show this off season is who will fill in the last two opening on defense, how will Marc-Andre Fleury and Kevin Lankinen split time in the net this upcoming season. The last big story line the guys talk about is how long of a leash does Coach Colliton have and will we see a quick firing if this team isn’t performing right away? (14:55-49:48) Switching over to NHL Talk, Jesperi Kotkaniemi is Carolina bound after Montreal refuses to match the Canes offer sheet. Now the question is how the hell does his contract work for next year? The Islanders made a bunch of signings that felt like were already done back when free agency opened up and they also announced Zach Parise will be coming to the island. Buffalo makes a pair of deals and no they don’t involve Jack Eichel. Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion announces the rebuild in Ottawa is over and its time to win. The guys look at what type of contract Brady Tkachuck might sign. To wrap up NHL Talk the guys discuss the NHL going back to the Olympics and how badly we feel for Team China having to go against NHL Canada and NHL USA. Jarom also asks if this is going to be the most stacked Olympic ice hockey event ever?
