In our third focus on the Sussex non-league scene, we cast our Gulls’ eyes along the coast to Worthing FC to catch up on what has been happening there since we last looked. Sadly it’s a case of “a new day, a new prematurely-ended season” as their promising start and the suggestion of another promotion campaign ahead was once again scuppered by Covid lockdown and league decisions. Adam Hinshelwood and his squad will be hoping it will be a case of third time lucky when things return to normal, and we were delighted to have Hinsh join us to tell us all about that and all other matters relating to the team and his plans for them. We were also joined by Hayden and Sam from fan groups ABF and Away Boys respectively to give the views from the terraces and to talk about the revolution in fan culture at Woodside Road.In Part 2, Hinsh touches on his Albion days and THAT own goal - he brought it up, not us!!! and WFC’s match day commentator & Rebel Yell podcast co-host Peter Vale comes on as a HT sub (for Sam) to give his views on the current state of play and to show off his prominent mic! ;)So, rapidly increased attendances, noisy support, pre-emptive ground improvements for the benefit of players and fans alike and an excellent administration and ownership behind the scenes means things are looking up for The Rebels / Mackerel Men. Could we be on the brink of seeing the best ever years ahead for this proud old 135 year old institution?! If Hinsh and the lads on this episode are anything to go by we sincerely hope so.Stand or fall! UTA!
