For the first time since 2012, the New Jersey Devils won a playoff series. They defeated the New York Rangers in seven games and will play the Carolina Hurricanes in the next round. Despite a brief scare in game six, Akira Schmid rebounded nicely and collected his second shutout of the series. Even though it took them over a period to score, the Devils were able to score three times on Igor Shesterkin and Jesper Bratt got the empty net goal late in period number three. It's also worth mentioning that this is only the second time in team history in which the Devils initially fell 0-2 and still win the series. The last time this occurred was in 1994 against the Boston Bruins.
