Gathering of Nations Powwow on Comes A Time. In this episode, Oteil and Mike welcome Dr. Lita & Derek Mathews, founders of the Gathering of Nations Powwow, along with their daughter Melonie Mathews. They discuss the beginnings of the Gathering of Nations, the importance of the Powwow and the sharing of oral history in Native American communities, and how the Powwow culture shares similarities to the Grateful Dead community.

Heads Talking. This is a segment of No Simple Road that just involves conversations among the hosts about what’s going on in the world. Given the fires ravaging the West, including where the NSR team is based, in Oregon, Aaron shares some love for those affected by the wildfires and offers a little insight into how we can move forward through the pain and uncertainty to find healing.

Weekend Livestreams. As you may already know, there are a few awesome shows happening this weekend, including a pair of Goose shows at the socially-distant drive-in in Yarmouth, MA. There will also be livestreams from John Scofield Trio, Amanda Shires, Dumpstaphunk, and the Capitol Theater’s 8th Anniversary livestream.

JamBase Video Archive. Another reminder about the amazing live video archive that JamBase has put together. One thing they wrote about this week is the collection of non-Grateful Dead covers that JRAD has done. This includes videos of covers of The Band, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and many more. Just another example of the vast video collection over at JamBase.
