If you were lucky, the other kids in the neighborhood had also been banished from their houses and were ready to play. Whether you chose kickball, SPUD, tag, or a made-up game popular on your street, you made your own fun to pass the time. Before you knew it, day turned into night, the lampposts or streetlights came on, and it was time to catch fireflies or play hide and seek in the dark.
