My name is Leslie Sbrocco and I'm the host of Check, Please! Bay Area. Each week, I will be sharing my tasting notes about the wine the guests and I drank on set during the taping of the show. I will also
share some wine tips with each episode.
2011 Biblia Chora “Areti” Macedonia, Greece ($18) -- Greek wines are hot these days…especially cool whites like this one from one of the country’s top producers (pronounced Bib-lee-a Hora). Made in northern Greece from the indigenous grape variety, Assyrtiko, it’s crisp, vibrant and loaded with citrus fruit flavors. If you like Sauvignon Blanc or unoaked styles of Chardonnay, this is a wine you’ll love.
2010 Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon ($38) -- This producer, which planted their original vines in the early 1970s, is an icon in the Oregon wine business. Known for their approachability and elegance, Sokol Blosser’s wines are led by Pinot Noir. This juicy, red fruit-scented wine sports a silky texture that makes it an ideal choice to pair beautifully with dishes from fleshy salmon with wild rice to hearty beef and potatoes.
