‘African fathers don’t talk about it’: When Duncan’s son Luka was diagnosed with autism, Duncan knew very little about the condition. His journey to better understand the condition would lead him to reimagine what it means to be a father and to create a space for fathers with children who have special needs. For Richard, learning about his son’s non-verbal autism has reshaped his approach to fatherhood and life.
