To kick off our Pride Month line-up of guests, we are joined by the delightful and hilarious Emmy-nominated host of E!’s Daily Pop, Justin Sylvester!

Daily Pop recently celebrated its fifth year on the air and over 1,200 episodes, which came to a surprise to all of the hosts, Justin shared. “I started having flashbacks of how many people came through the door to guest co-host or promote something. We’ve just had so much fun over the years.”

“We’re just such a non-traditional TV show. We curse, we have a good time, we laugh, we cry, we ask the questions that most reporters are afraid to ask. I’m a gay black man. There are not a lot of things I can’t ask. But I always tell people if I ask you a question, feel free to turn it around on me if you’re feeling hesitant to talk about it. If I’m expecting a guest to be real with me, I have to not only be real with myself, but with them as well.”

In addition to his advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community and Black Trans rights, Justin is also on the board of Camp Lightbulb, an organization that provides summer camp experiences for LGBTQ+ youth and their families in New York City, Los Angeles and Provincetown. Justin shared that while at his first Camp Lightbulb annual Christmas Party, a camper spoke about how impactful it was for them. “Hearing them talk about what it was like to spend time with kids from around the country who thought like them and identify the same way that they did brought my back to what my life would have been like if I had that same experience and had a childhood that felt normal at that time.”

Justin also shared some of the biggest moments in his life where he felt represented, one of which happened by accident when he forgot to change a TV channel and stumbled upon The RuPaul Show. “I thought ‘damn’. This man is here and people are celebrating him and he’s talking to stars. That for me was when I said ‘aha!’ I can do this. People like RuPaul, Ross Matthews, and the cast of Queer Eye on my TV screen during these crucial points in my life pushed me to want to pursue things that I didn’t think were possible.”

Daily Pop airs weekdays at 11am ET on E!
