In 2013, she launched The Refined Woman blog where she shared her journey of healing from an eating disorder, her struggle with anxiety, and her not so sexy dating life in New York.

How Kat Harris Discovered Her Creative Talent In Photography

Kat shares how she was told that every human has a creative side, yet she wasn’t sure she knew what hers was. She was a tennis player, Bible major and didn’t feel she had a creative bone in her body. That was until she was handed a camera and realized that creativity comes in all kinds of forms. Kat learned that we all have a creative aspect to us because God was creative in his creation of each of us. We need to allow ourselves to find what that creativity is and to use it and express it.

The Importance Of Finding Your “Why”

Having a “why” is the same thing as finding your purpose for doing what you do. If you discover your purpose in the job you do, the life you live and the message you put out into the world, then you are more likely to want to live it out even more. For Kat, her why is to tell women that they are worthy, they are enough and their story matters. She’s able to live out her why no matter what the vehicle is that she’s using. Kat is ensuring that she shares this with women whether she’s on a photo shoot, recording a podcast episode and in the content she creates. She’s found a way to give herself the freedom to explore these endeavors.

Kat’s 3 Steps To Getting Past The Fears That Hold You Back

One of Kat’s specialties is helping women get past the fears that are holding them back. She offers a 3 step strategy to do this and to move forward in your life. Her greatest reminder for you is that people pivot all the time and it’s important to recognize that when you are rooted in fear, you allow yourself to become a victim and you need to get past that. Kat has found that once she shifts to a foundation of wholeness in the narratives of her life, she can then take ownership of her life. What if things could be different? What if you allowed yourself to try on a different reality? The first thing you need to do is to pause, get curious and identify the things you are believing. Next, discern where these thoughts are coming from? Is it a place of fear or freedom? If it’s fear, then you need to rewrite the narrative. What would need to happen for the opposite to happen? Lastly, what if you gave yourself permission to pretend and imagine and learn into possibility? Flesh that out and create a game plan to move forward.

How are you going to change the fears in your life and turn them into things you can control?
