Why Sunday? Well, the Cannes Film Festival announced their awards on Saturday. So we wanted to cover those ASAFP. Monday is also a picnic day for most of you, and now you can listen to MMOW en route to your R&R, but you also get a full day of listening to our weekly variety show a day early. Here’s a bonus 5th episode for the week. We said we’d make it up to ya, and here you go. It’s another loaded slate of Hollywood News, and we’re all over it. One of our favorite filmmakers, Bong Joon-Ho won the Palm D’or at Cannes for his new film, Parasite. We discuss his career and what this selection might mean for its Oscar hopes. Then we run through all the other major winners from Antonio Banderas to Celine Sciamma. But we can’t discuss this year’s Cannes film fest without a huge segment on Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. We discuss “The Snap,” the new trailer, how long is a good standing ovation, and what, if anything comes from the film’s awards shut out. Our audience interaction takes two parts in this episode. We discuss our winners from this week’s SixDegreesOfMMO and give you a new challenge. Then at the end of the episode, we breakdown all of your Game of Thrones Rewrites, where we dive into spoilers. Thanks once again for all your excellent submissions! The week also offered a bunch of important news stories. We must address the Jason Mitchell story. But we also get into happier matters like a preview of next week’s theatrical releases, this past week’s box office projections, that awesome new article about The Rise of Skywalker in Vanity Fair, and the upcoming Christopher Nolan spy movie, Tenet. Then we review new trailers for Toy Story 4, Downton Abbey, The Nightingale, Terminator: Dark Fate, & Plus One. As always, please submit your responses to SixDegreesOfMMO, and we’ll have more Twitter questions for you throughout the week. We’re at MMandOscar on Twitter, and we are on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. You can subscribe / rate / review / like / share / & listen to us on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Spotify, and just about wherever you listen to podcasts. When reality sucks, keep watching movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, & Oscar!
