These variety shows are tremendously fun to record because of the smattering of topics we can cover in one sitting, and this week, it’s certainly one of our most varied variety shows yet. We enjoy some of our usual segments like What We’re Watching, Box Office Update, Audience Interaction, Trailer Thoughts, & Do You Care. But we discuss an unusual number of subjects such as Netflix binge watches, superhero box office, horror movie franchise rumors, musical & non-musical live action Disney Remakes, and of course, potential Oscar buzz surrounding some of the industry’s biggest names.
What We’re Watching asks some important questions about whether or not you should binge the series, if you could skip a certain season, and one Mike’s review. We also weigh in on Showtime’s Billions & The Loudest Voice, gush over reviews of Bad Genius & Booksmart, and yes, we talk a little sports after the great weekend of World Cup & NBA stories.
The Box Office rebounded with Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Mike 1 makes many comparisons to the performances of previous films in previous years so that we can better understand the degree of the sequel-itus contracted by the industry.
Our audience reaction segment recaps our winners from perhaps our most difficult SixDegreesOfMMO yet before we create yet another near impossible task for you with our new challenge.
In Trailer Thoughts, we gush over the first looks at Rian Johnson’s Knives Out and the serious remake of Mulan, and we’re insanely jealous over the high concepts of Jumanji: The Next Level. Then we’re a bit mixed and mixed up over the second trailer for Maleficent 2.
Finally, we end with Do You Care, where we discuss next week’s 4 intriguing theatrical releases including a story about alligators, and we also react to stories about Halloween 2020 & Chris Rock’s Saw, the new Little Mermaid, Movie Pass, Amazon Prime’s Lord of the Rings, and Quentin Tarantino’s impending retirement(?).
It’s another loaded week on MMOW, we want to hear your takes on anything we covered, and we hope you enjoy another fun SixDegreesOfMMO challenge.
