We’re breaking down Awards Season once again with part one of our Mid-Year Oscars Report. Each of our three parts will cover seven categories apiece. This episode covers Adapted Screenplay, Supporting Actress, Original Score, Sound Mixing & Editing, Documentary Feature, and Lead Actor. Shout Outs to Clayton Davis at Awards Circuit, Matt Neglia at Next Best Picture, and Erick Weber at Awards Ace as we cite some of their early favorites in these categories. For we open each category discussion with a cursory list of some contenders before diving into our 3 highlights. Each of us picks a frontrunner, a likely nomination, and a wildcard pick that we’d love to see gain momentum. So you get an overview and some chatter about specific contenders. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood could certainly get Leo another nod, and we pinpoint where some technical noms might come. Little Women will allow us to go to the movies with our mothers, and Meryl Streep might be at ALL the award shows of the next year (What else is new). Antonio Banderas, Jennifer Hudson, Annette Bening, and Eddie Murphy may all have Oscar runs, and we also talk about some of our favorite writers like Greta Gerwig & Tracy Letts. Plus, John Williams & Randy Newman might square off with newcomes Trent Reznor & Carter Burwell in that original score category. Oh, it felt so good to talk about the Oscar Race again.
