Submit ReviewI had the extreme honor to go lecture a Belmont class on Tuesday. The class is called “Women in Entertainment.” How cool is that there there is a class talking about this?! I basically told my story. How I have had extreme highs and lows in my career. I’ve had multiple record deals, been on lots of reality TV, been a TV host, Record label promoter, song plugger, music teacher to kids and now podcaster. It’s so easy to look at someone when they seem to be crushing it and compare yourself to their journey and think you’re not enough, a loser, never going to be successful, not talented enough, etc... NEWS FLASH: everyone feels super insecure at times and like they are a fraud. The secret is you have to keep moving forward and riding the wave. You have to trust the flow. When you feel resistance, pivot. Follow the easy feelings. That’s doesn’t mean it won’t be hard work, but if you are in true pursuit of your passion it will feel so good when you are “working.” A lot of times you have to have a side hustle to support yourself until that can become your main hustle. But follow the flow. It’s so important to jump at opportunities and be brave. Put yourself out there even when it’s uncomfortable. I just basically recap what I told these amazing students at the beginning of their journey. I really felt honored that I had the chance to instill hope in them and let them know they are not crazy to believe in their dreams. I made everyone go around the class and say what they felt called to do and why they would be great at that job. It was powerful. So here’s my recap.
