Melissa Haughton is a storyteller of Jamaican descent living in Toronto - where she also happens to work for the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company). Yep, even Canada has Black people, and it ain’t all roses and maple leaves up there. Whether Melissa’s on or off the clock, you can’t deny the sense of wonder and curiosity she brings to shows like “So What Are You” (cultural heritage and identity - self produced), or “Hard to Stomach” (food insecurity across Ontario - CBC). Through a conversation about lunch tables, hair color, and hot sauce - we learn a lot more about the nebulousness of Canadian identity.    LEARN ABOUT MELISSA:  melissahaughton.com, @melissahaute   PODCASTS “So What Are You” - https://smarturl.it/sowhatareyou “Hard to Stomach” (CBC) https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/community/hard-to-stomach-podcast-1.5391488   MENTIONS TV: Insecure (HBO): imdb.com/title/tt5024912 BOOK: They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us (Hanif Abdurraqib): goodreads.com/book/show/33947154-they-can-t-kill-us-until-they-kill-us   Learn more about your ad choices.
