On February 1st, 2003, the Space Shuttle Columbia breaks apart on its 28th mission while re-entering the atmosphere. The seven-member crew are killed almost immediately, the first astronaut fatalities in almost 20 years. On the same day, Megan Sukys travels to see her dying father and come to terms with what his life meant.
