Bandrew Says – Episode 159
As I return from the hiatus from what I now consider “Season 5” of the podcast, I’ve taken some time to think about the purpose of the show. That led me to start thinking about toxic fandom, something that has been more and more present within geek culture over the last few years. One of the biggest showings of toxic fandom was after Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi was released in 2017.
With this episode, I wanted to give a recent example of this situation. I also wanted to share a way for us as fans to battle the toxicity, which is what I now call the “Not For Me Ideology”. The short and sweet explanation of this is to simply understand that not everything is made for you. Thankfully, Tom Taylor did a great job of talking about this in the tweet I shared.
