Submit ReviewJohn Cena, star of the upcoming Fast 9, got nuclear heat with China for calling Taiwan a country (it is a country). He apologized, in Mandarin, for his previous statement and proceeded to get heat with people around the world. I haven't seen him hold such a massive L since he got squashed by Brock at SummerSlam.
Personally, I feel for the guy because he would be screwed no matter what he did after his initial statement regarding Taiwan as a country (again, it very much is a country). China is a huge market for movies and releasing Fast 9 in a country where one of its stars has massive political heat would end in box office disaster. This has even had ramifications in WWE, as the company is rumored to have plans of Cena facing Roman Reigns at the SummerSlam main event in Las Vegas.
We're sorry, John. We still love you. We love you as much as we love the Fast & Furious franchise. A franchise, much like John Cena, that has proven staying power and has evolved into a weird version of the thing we originally liked.
