The election comes amid backlash over the Police Commissioner's apology for historical actions by the NT Police Force towards Indigenous Australians.
Marion Scrymgour, Federal Member for Lingiari says addressing issues in the NT, and particularly about Alice Springs "isn't just about chucking money", but also about addressing root causes in surrounding communities. She says there needs to be a balance and "we've got to not give up."
