Less than half of AI projects make it into production, with the main obstacle being the difficulty in estimating their value, according to a survey by Gartner. The study found that it takes an average of eight months to go from AI prototype to production, and only 48% of projects succeed in reaching this stage. Among the respondents, 29% reported using GenAI as their most deployed AI solution. The survey also identified 9% of organizations as being AI-mature, with a focus on foundational capabilities such as scalable AI operating models, AI engineering, upskilling, and risk management. These capabilities were seen as vital for successful AI implementation.
