Robert Daniel interview renowned photographer, Magnus Hastings
Magnus Hastings is best known for his arresting photographs of Drag Queens. Over the years, he has immortalized Queens such as Courtney Act, Alaska Thunderfuck, Jackie Beat, and Jiggly Caliente, among many others. However, behind the lens is a man whose vision soul are reflected in the images he has captured! Magnus grew up in London, where he himself indulged in drag at an early age, donning a wig and dress to primary school. While none of the other children joined in on his "Drag For A Day," he persevered, albeit under a desk. The foreshadowing present in this moment would be quite important, as Magnus grew up to become one of the world's most recognized Drag Queen photographers! After the success of his 2014 exhibition book, "Why Drag?," Magnus will debut his new exhibition, "Why Not," at the Mr Musichead Gallery in Hollywood. The show will open on July 16th with a cocktail reception benefitting the Los Angeles LGBT Center. To purchase tickets, head over to Grizzlykiki.com/whynot
