When we look at a photograph, there are two primary possible approaches. We can appreciate it for the artifact that it is. Or, we can appreciate it for the content is illustrates, in which case the image is a portal to something beyond the artifact. There is a lot more to consider here than we might assume.

Is the purpose of art making to create an artifact? If so, then AI might be something we need to pay attention to. On the other hand, if the purpose of art making is to engage a personal path of exploration and discovery, then AI is non sequitur.
