Lupus is a disease that causes the body's immune system to attack its own tissues and organs (which is what's called an autoimmune disease).  This particular disease can affect every part of the body and is often diagnosed during childbearing years.  Being pregnant with lupus can complicate things, especially if your disease is not yet under control. Even if lupus is well-treated, some with lupus still have antibodies that can affect their unborn child during pregnancy.  In this episode, Dr. Plenty reviews the signs and symptoms of lupus and how the disease is diagnosed.  She also delves into how lupus can affect the pregnancy and different organ systems and ways lupus flares are treated during pregnancy. If you have lupus, know someone with lupus, or just want to learn more about it, make sure to download and listen to this episode now! And don't forget to share with your friends!
