I first saw women play hockey in 1995 when the IIHF hosted the 1st Pacific Rim tournament in the rink I worked. National teams from Canada, China, Japan and the United States. While Canada would win that tournament my love and support for women's hockey would grow from there. This week my guest is the Executive Director of the National Women's Hockey Players Association, Anya Packer. We started the conversation about how she became a fan of the sport, her playing career as well as her role now. Being an LGBT podcast we obviously also talk about her coming out, her struggles with mental health and how her team helped her in the coming out process.
