It’s Wednesday, October 21st. I’m Mary Regalado, and here’s your local news from The Los Angeles Times. Today will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid to low 80s and a low tonight of 62. Our top story: LA Police Chief Michel Moore has predicted that the city will see more than 300 homicides this year. He also noted that although there was a brief lull in killings early in the year that police attributed in part to COVID-19 lockdowns, homicides spiked in the summer.
