The Chargers have officially kicked off training camp, but star safety Derwin James wasn't practicing due to a contract dispute. Camp also gave a first look at which players are starting for the team now, and where others stand on the depth chart early on. The guys also discuss the first look at hybrid defender Kyle Van Noy's role, which has him playing more linebacker than expected. Offensively, Wednesday's practice showed the leader in the battle for right tackle and where rookie Isaiah Spiller ranks in the running back pecking order. Head coach Brandon Staley spoke with the media as well, and gave a less than ideal injury update on linebacker Kenneth Murray.
