Warner Bros. released Lethal Weapon to theaters on March 6, 1987. Richard Donner directed the film which starred Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, and Gary Busey. Lethal Weapon Movie Summary Lethal Weapon begins as I feel every film should begin, with a hot, blonde woman, high on drugs and low on clothing. Unfortunately, this topless woman has issues, much as most of the women that I have dated, and throws herself off a building, killing herself and breaking the heart of her plastic surgeon. It’s ok though, because like most whores, she was dead on the inside already. Next, we meet Detective Roger Murtaugh. Apparently black does crack, since they went younger for the role. Murtaugh is celebrating his birthday, and counting his days until his retirement. His captain gives him the present of a new partner, Detective Martin Riggs. Riggs has a death wish because his wife recently died. He spends his evenings watching Looney Tunes, and cleaning the barrel of his gun out with his tongue. Nobody wants to work with Riggs anymore, partly because his breath smells like gun powder, but mostly because of the crazy, sad-sack routine. The Captain decides to assign him to black guy in homicide. Talk about failing upward. Riggs and Murtaugh begin looking into the death of the hot blonde at the beginning of the film. The duo discovers someone laced her drugs with drain cleaner. At that spells murder in Murtaugh’s book. And to further tie all plot points together, the blond is also the daughter of Murtaugh’s old friend from Vietnam, Michael Hunsaker. Riggs and Murtaugh begin looking into Amanda Hunsaker’s background, and find out she is the porn industry. Now, this interests the boys. They go and talk to Amanda’s sugar daddy, and Riggs fills him full of lead and drops him into the pool. That is the running theme throughout the film, Riggs shoots everyone but himself.
