Submit ReviewThe Lakers confirmed Tuesday what many had reported - LeBron James is unlikely to play Wednesday night against the Blazers at the Crypt, which makes Thursday's game against the Clippers a serious question mark, as well. Frank Vogel says there's nothing structural wrong inside LeBron's knee, and that they're being cautious to make sure they don't turn it into a chronic problem.
Good news, relative to other potential diagnoses, but still a problem for the Lakers right now, as they face off with teams they're jockeying for position with in that 7-10 grouping at the bottom of the Western Conference playoff ladder. (Yes, we're talking about play-in seeding, here, folks. Not a happy thing, but it's where we are.)
But LeBron's injury signals potential problems going forward, too. Like, into the summer and next year, because it's going to get harder and harder to lighten his load, given the constraints on the team this summer.
Meanwhile, Jerry West laid out a list of grievances against the Lakers that have built up over time, and created what he calls an irreparable rift between the organization and one of its icons. How did everyone get to this point? Who is at fault? What does the rift say about the way the Lakers are run, more broadly?
HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky
SEGMENT 1: LeBron James is hurt, again. Silver lining? Because the Lakers are going to have problems reaching the 6th seed, there's less incentive to rush LeBron back.
SEGMENT 2: Did Dwight Howard fix Russell Westbrook? What's up with Jerry West and the Lakers?
SEGMENT 3: What the rift between West and the Lakers says about West and the Lakers.
