Introduction
DB: You are listening to
languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Hello everyone! My name’s Damon and this is the podcast for all lovers of the
beautiful game of football, and those who want to improve their English language skills. I’ve been away from the show for a few weeks on a short break in Germany and Italy, but am back now, and hopefully Damian in London is ready to say hello. Damian! How are things and what matches have you been watching?
DF: Hi Damon. I’m well and London is enjoying a nice bit of weather for a change. I should also apologies to listeners due to the late arrival of last week’s podcast – it’s been a really busy week at work. As for football, well I was lucky enough to be at
Wembley on Wednesday to see my team Tottenham beat Dortmund in the first
leg of the Champions League
last sixteen matches – a great night! The first half was
cagey, very nervy but in the second half Spurs
moved up a gear and
ran out winners by three goals to nil. Then in the same competition I saw the Manchester United-PSG game on Tuesday which again turned in the second half thanks mainly to French international superstar Kylian Mbappé. Two second-half goals from Paris means that it will be difficult for United to turn this game around in
the return leg. How about you Damon, what football have you seen recently?
DB: It must have been a great night for you. That was a real statement by Spurs, who are still in the title race in England despite everyone focusing on Liverpool and Man City. As for other football, well as I was travelling I didn’t watch too much football, but I did find a place, sadly, in Florence showing West Ham vs Liverpool a couple of matches ago…
