Introduction
DF: You are listening to
languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Hello everyone and welcome to the podcast for all those who love the
beautiful game of football and for those who are aiming to improve their English language skills. My name’s Damian, and I’m based in London where the weather here is bright and sunny one minute and then cold and grey the next! Over in Japan, and hopefully on the end of the line, is Damon. How are things over there and what football have you watched this week?
DB: Hiya Damian. Well, it’s been a beautiful late spring day over here in Tokyo. The dog’s been lying on the balcony all day, and I’ve been pottering around with my herb garden!
DF: Nice.
DB: Now, as for football, well I saw both Champions League semis – more on those later I’m sure – and I also saw both our teams, Tottenham and Liverpool, in their league games yesterday. Both nail-biters but in different ways! How about you?
DF: Yes, I also saw both the Liverpool and Tottenham games yesterday and I also watched Cardiff’s game against Crystal Palace in which the Bluebirds – that’s Cardiff –
were relegated to
the Championship after only one season in the Premier League. I also saw a little bit of the Europa League first leg semi-final game between Arsenal and Valencia in which the
Gunners scored a late goal to take a 3-1 first-leg win to Valencia next week. Ah, it looks like an all-London final for the Europa League after Chelsea drew 1-1 with German side Eintracht Frankfurt in their away leg. Right, what’s on the show this week, Damon?
