Introduction – 2018-19 Premier League Season Review DF: You are listening to languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Welcome to the Learn English Through Football podcast for all those who love the beautiful game of football and who wish to improve their English language skills. My name’s Damian and I’m in a sunny London where it is a Bank Holiday weekend, which means that we have a long weekend as Monday is a national holiday. Now, regular listeners to the show will know that our co-presenter, Damon, is based in Tokyo, and he’s down the line – how are things Damon? DB: Hi Damian. All good over here, except for the weather. Japan has suddenly shifted into summer temperatures, so we are sweating in 30 degree sun. DF: Wow! What football have you seen this week? DB: To be honest, absolutely nothing! How about you? DF: I saw two cup finals yesterday. First up I saw Celtic come from behind to defeat Hearts 2-1 to claim their third treble – a treble treble – which means they have won all three domestic titles, in Scotland,  for the past three years. Amazing. I then saw the German Cup final – the DFB Pokal – between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig which Munich won 3-0 in a really entertaining game. DB: It looks like these doubles and trebles are becoming more common, or that’s how it feels anyway. Although Barcelona were denied a domestic double after their defeat by Valencia in the Copa del Rey, weren’t they? DF: Yes, that’s right, I actually listened to the second half of that game in Spanish on the radio as there was no TV coverage here in the UK – it sounded an amazing game. By the way we have posted some additional content for our Patrons – a listening report with transcript that reviews some of those Cup finals across Europe, including those victories for Celtic, Valencia and Bayern Munich.
