He was cut from his high school team in Atlanta, Georgia and went on to be inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame. The story of how he got there is a brilliant one. He had two stints in the NBA before the NBL came calling. He played with Barkley and against Jordan. He would win two championships with the Melbourne Tigers – a Grand Final MVP award in 1997 and develop one of the great Australian basketball partnerships with Andrew Gaze en route to having his famous number 21 singlet retired by the club. He is Lanard Copeland and this is his story.
