In today’s Talmud page, Kiddushin 73, we learn that if a child is abandoned in an area where people do not tend to be, that child should be considered a foundling, while if they are left in a place where people do generally congregate, they are subject to the laws of the community, and not those of a foundling. Rabbi David Gedzelman joins us to delve deeper into the idea of Jewish peoplehood, and the many ways that peoplehood can and should be conceived of. What could we be doing as a community to emphasize Jewish peoplehood? Listen and find out. Like the show? Subscribe to our weekly newsletter. Send us a note at takeone@tabletmag.com.
