Kestrel Coffee Roasters South Burlington, Vermont Episode 82 Kestrel Coffee Roasters (kestrelcoffees.com)   This week we chat with Charlotte and Johnny Steverson, owners of Kestrel Coffee Roasters in South Burlington Vermont. Kestrel Coffee Roasters sources and roasts specialty coffees from all over the world, focusing on single origin coffees from small farms. They are making some truly high quality coffee, and we had the pleasure to interview them and learn their back story. Yes we dive into coffee, but you will learn more about food than you expected. One word of warning... Montreal.  Oh mon cheri......insert your own bad French Pepe Le Pew accent here. Coffee with care and detail you got it, but who didn't even own a coffee maker at one time and why. Relationships have risen and fallen on these factors! This roaster/barista has a story to tell but first, Charlotte wants her coffee in the morning! You say patahto, I say potato. But how do you say theatre? Just one of the subjects covered in this week's episode of regional accents and linguistics with the Coffee Roadshow and Kestrel Coffee Roasters. We branch out, from coffee and linguistics into a small lesson in ornithology, and the origin of the Kestrel name. Can't say we aren't going for an all inclusive audience! Have you been in an airport had your flight cancelled and no way to get to your destination but rent a car with a stranger? If this plot sounds familiar, you may be a fan of John Candy, and Steve Martin in the movie Trains, Planes and Automobiles. While listening to Johnny's trip with a stranger in a red Mustang it may bring back fond memories of this classic tale. How do you go from tea to coffee, and from culinary school, to Q grader and why! Wow.. The short answer is a great palate and lots of studying! Now for the culinary portion of this week's show...again remember we are all inclusive. What’s made of butter, sugar, salt and dough? Easy to say, difficult to spell, but worth the possibility of ruining a coat. I see a new hashtag developing #protectthepastry. Sacrifice your comfort, rain and the elements hah...we must protect the pastry at all costs! One of their cafes sits inside a gallery, and is dog friendly! So sit, gaze, and sip on one of the many offerings of Kestrel Coffee Roasters. Right now we are drinking Faster than Light, an Espresso blend with a toffee note, and Tsekaka with a hit of apricot and clove...mmm recommend it highly. Charlotte and Johnny are offering a code for our listeners. Just type: roadshow2021 and receive 20% off your order. In Literary Latte we have J.R.R. Tolkien The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings  and Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut Remember if you have a question, or topic you want us to follow up on from this week, or any other episode of the CCCRS, we are happy to try to get that done.
