Submit ReviewFor 10 years, Kemi Ilesanmi has been the executive director of the Laundromat Project, a community non-profit that provides resources and financial support for primarily Black artists and New Yorkers of color to create art in public spaces throughout the city such as libraries, community gardens, public plazas and, yes, laundromats. And now, she is stepping down at the end of the year. We talk about her background and upbringing (hint: it doesn’t have a lot to do with art), what the LP has accomplished under her watch … and what’s coming next.
