Doing These Three Things!

Transcript

Fred Miller, NO SWEAT Public Speaking!

One of the challenges a speaker has is keeping the attention of the audience. We have the attention span of a gnat! If you lose the audience, they’re never gonna get your message.

Here Are Three Ways To Combat That.
Number One:

After your opening and before the body of your speech, issue a Disclaimer.

Example: I’m going to show you my way to develop, practice and deliver great Elevator Speech. It works really, really well for lots of people.

But honestly, there are others who do it differently. Some do it way differently and works it well for them.

My suggestion is be a sponge. Absorb everything, then squeeze out what you don’t need and do it your own way.

Number Two:

Humor! People love humor!

Example: Stand up. Tell us who you are and what you do.

Many people feel like this lady, right? Now, personally, it’s always been a religious experience. “Please, don’t call me first. I know I should have been ready.”

And Number Three:

Keep it simple: Simple Language, Simple Concepts, and Simple Images. Because if someone’s confused about what you’re trying to present, they’ll never get it and they’ll tune you out.

Do those three things and I guarantee your next presentation will be absolutely, positively – NO SWEAT!
