San Francisco Giants fans can finally take a deep breath. Jung Hoo Lee has passed his physical, and he is officially a member of the SF Giants. It's by far the largest free-agent contract finalized in the Farhan Zaidi era, (though Correa's $350M deal that ultimately fell through would've been more than three times as large). Lee is unproven at the major league level, of course, but brings a tantalizing blend of youth and a skill set that the Giants have been sorely lacking to the lineup. He makes a ton of contact, uses the whole field, doesn't strike out, runs well, has above-average range in center, and has a plus arm. Jung Hoo Lee can opt out after the fourth year of his deal with the Giants.

Meanwhile, SF Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and former catcher Buster Posey spoke on the failed Shohei Ohtani pursuit. They spoke candidly about their efforts, with Zaidi stating that ownership was agreeable to the exact terms he ultimately signed with the Dodgers. Posey said that, in his attempted recruits of free agents, he's consistently run into an issue with players, and even players' wives, being concerned about the state of San Francisco. Posey indicated that it doesn't matter whether those claims are fair or not, because "perception is reality."

Meanwhile, the LA Dodgers officially introduced Shohei Ohtani today, and they also are reportedly finalizing a trade for ace pitcher Tyler Glasnow (who's had a very hard time staying healthy, however). The trade is contingent on Glasnow signing and extension with LA, and all parties seem to believe the trade will be completed. The Giants must continue to shop aggressively this offseason to not only improve their team to get them back into the playoffs, but to keep the fans interested and entertained. Despite missing out on Ohtani, so far so good with the Giants' official signing of Jung Hoo Lee.
