The New York Yankees won two in a row for the first time in nearly a month, beating the Detroit Tigers 4-2! But before we recap the game and its performances, we have to talk about the Yankees releasing Josh Donaldson and placing Harrison Bader on waivers. It was a busy day around baseball concerning the waiver wire. As of the show's recording, we don’t know what will happen to Bader or Donaldson. Teams heading to the playoffs could pick them up/sign them. As for Tuesday’s win, Michael King pitched four scoreless innings and was followed by Jhony Brito, who threw three and a third innings of scoreless ball. We discuss their performances and the offense, which clubbed three solo shots: Gleyber Torres, Kyle Higashioka, and Anthony Volpe. Plus, Aaron Judge scored on a passed ball. Then we talk about DJ LeMahieu’s turnaround and Sean Casey’s role. We look at the numbers and discuss the importance of LeMahieu going forward because he’s signed through 2026. Then we discuss Gerrit Cole’s AL Cy Young chances. Cole will be starting on Wednesday night against the Tigers and is looking to repeat his incredible outing last time when he pitched 7.2 innings against the Rays and struck out 11.
