In this episode we speak with Jonathan Braylock, James III, and Jerah Milligan, co-hosts of the podcast Black Men Can’t Jump (In Hollywood), creators (along with James Carr) of Seriously.tv’s new web series Projecting, and members of Astronomy Club at the UCB in New York. They talk about the details of negotiating with a network, from pitch meetings to putting down deposits for a shoot from their own pockets before the contracts were finalized. They explore the benefits of working as part of a larger team, from having a larger combined network of contacts to being able to rely on each others support when things get tough during shoots. They express their gratitude for the UCB, which provided them with community, PA’s and extras, and riffing skills that have proven very useful in garnering support in pitch meetings. This week’s episode is in partnership with Bronx Brewery, the official house beer of the UCB Comedy Podcast Network.
