John Wetzel, longtime NBA Coach and former NBA player as well as Virginia Tech basketball Hall of Famer, joins this week’s edition of Sports Business Radio. Wetzel served as a coach for the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings and was a player with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Atlanta Hawks. Wetzel discusses the highlights of his lengthy coaching career, working alongside Head Coaches John MacLeod and Rick Adelman, the Trail Blazers teams that advanced to the NBA Finals (Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter) in 1990 and 1992 and the standout Kings teams that came close to reaching the NBA Finals (Chris Webber and Vlade Divac). Wetzel also discusses his Hall of Fame college career at Virginia Tech and playing on the same Lakers team with Jerry West and Elgin Baylor and Hawks team with Pistol Pete Maravich.
