On this week’s episode of Eric Krasno Plus One, Kraz is joined by keyboard wizard John Medeski, who’s sensational playing with Medeski, Martin, & Wood has been a staple in the auditory diet of avid listeners for decades. One of the few true virtuosos of our time, Medeski has been dropping jaws and blowing minds ever since MMW formed in 1991. Outside of his wild musical manipulations of time in space with MMW, Medeski has also worked with Iggy Pop, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Trey Anastasio, Robert Randolph, and many more legendary artists.

In this conversation, Kraz and Medeski dive right in and talk about a range of topics including playing with John Scofield, mimicking Hendrix on the organ, overcoming cluster headaches, and “the unexplainable” in improvisational music. Medeski shares with listeners the wisdom he’s learned from a lifetime of musicianship, and it is both refreshing and inspiring to hear his thoughtful approach to his craft.
