Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has unveiled an international framework for regulating and utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) at a meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Japan, which took the lead in establishing rules for AI governance through the Hiroshima AI Process, introduced the Hiroshima AI Process Friends Group, a voluntary framework with 49 member countries and regions. Kishida emphasized the importance of addressing the risks associated with AI, particularly disinformation. This announcement coincides with global efforts towards AI governance, with countries like the United States, China, and the European Union implementing their own regulations to ensure responsible and ethical AI development and usage.
