On this episode, Alexandra speaks with Isabeth Mendoza, the engagement producer for KQED podcasts. This interview was recorded in July 2020 when Isabeth was the engagement producer for Truth Be Told at KQED. They discuss the Black Lives Matter protests, mental health and therapy during the pandemic and social uprisings, and building better boundaries with social media. In the first half of the interview, they specifically discuss racism in the healthcare system, Isabeth's journey from studying public health and being a millennial caregiver to doing Next Generation NPR, an NPR internship, and how attending a podcast festival led to one of her first podcast jobs.  She is super frank about what it took for her to do freelance for a year and gave tips on creative ways to attend festivals, even when they are outside your budget. The latter half of the conversation includes a surprising after effect of anxiety, how to fix it, and a conversation with Isabeth about her Truth Be Told episode with her father, who has been living in Mexico for many years since being deported from the United States.
