The New Mexico coaching search took a wild turn on over the weekend and through Mounda when reports came out that the top four choices for the Lobos were no longer in consideration: Joe Dooley (FGCU), Scott Cross (UT-Arlington), Steve Forbes (Eastern Tennessee State) and James Borrego (San Antonio Spurs assistant coach). Then a report came out Monday night from Jon Rothstein that said New Mexico is “close to finalizing a deal” with New Mexico State's Paul Weir. We also discuss Steve Fisher stepping down as San Diego State's head coach and what he meant to the program he built into a powerhouse on the West Coast. Our final topic is discussing how the Mountain West missed on Wichita State and why Grand Canyon could make sense if the league wants to get to 12 basketball teams. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mwwire/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mwwire/support Learn more about your ad choices.
