Chef Kurt Evans is a Philadelphia-based artist-activist and social entrepreneur. He found a passion for cooking southern style dishes alongside his grandmothers as a child, and has since honed his skills in some of Philadelphia's most esteemed kitchens. With over 14 years of professional cooking experience, Kurt continues to learn innovative techniques and create unique recipes. In addition to his culinary pursuits, Kurt uses his skills to rally the community around ending mass incarceration through his End Mass Incarceration (EMI) Dinner series. He also established a workforce development program and founded Down North Pizza, a fair wage and equitable workplace for employees who have been formerly incarcerated.
