"A House Made Of Splinters" had its world premiere at last year's Sundance Film Festival, where it mostly went under the radar for many despite receiving positive reviews. There were questions about its awards eligibility this year, given it did not have a U.S. distributor for the longest time. Still, it went on to receive nominations from various documentary awards voting bodies and even earned a Spirit Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Now, the film has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature at this year's Academy Awards, and many are starting to take notice of this delicate, harrowing, and essential piece of work which focuses on orphaned children in a war-torn Ukraine.
