JAMAICA HOUSE, “the studio 54 of rap,” was LA’s biggest urban nightspot of the 90s, lasting over a decade. Venture behind the velvet rope of Hollywood, with reggae & hip-hop’s golden-era royalty. Founded by four boyhood friends, the club was a flashpoint in cultural history, surviving gangs, drugs, the L.A. Riots, plus growing violence in the music and culture. This chronicle is also a coming of age story for its boyhood founders, and for rap itself. As the music changed, the club ‘blew-up’ beyond it’s original underground roots. Now, the founders would struggle with money, new fame, and old demons, ignited by the trappings of their success. Never seen before live performances and interviews from TUPAC SHAKUR, NOTORIOUS B.I.G., RUN-DMC, ICE CUBE, WU-TANG CLAN, THE ROOTS, GANG STAR, THE PHARCYDE and members of NWA highlight the film.
