This week on Inside the Arts, it's awards season! May we have the envelope, please? Gambit's 2019 Tribute to the Classical Arts awards luncheon gets underway Friday. Two special prizes will highlight the event. Tulane University professor of dance, Barbara Hayley will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. She joins us in our studio. Then, MASNO's New Orleans Piano Institute is honored with Gambit's Education Award. The Musical Arts Society of New Orleans executive director, Cara McCool Woolf joins us with New Orleans Piano Institute co-director, Joni Jensen. And, Dillard University's Theatre Program celebrates Black History Month with the debut of award-winning playwright Carolyn Nur Wistrand's, Ida B. 'n the Lynching Tree. The production focuses on 19th century civil rights leader Ida B. Wells, a journalist and founding member of the NAACP and her struggle for justice. We talk with playwright Carolyn Nur Wistrand and actress Alexandria Lofton. Airs Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m., Wednesdays
